From the very first moments, everyone involved in Tamdhu had the same mind-set – only the best will do. And so it began. The best distillery architect and engineer of the day, Charles C Doig ESQ, was enlisted. The best location by the banks of the River Spey was acquired. The most advanced techniques were chosen. And the best sherry casks from Spain were selected. The stage was set. Over 100 years since the distillery opened, we’re proud to still use the same casks and methods as Tamdhu’s founders. These traditions create a Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky worthy of the name Tamdhu.
A Tamdhu for the devoted malt fan, this magnificent edition is bottled un-chillfiltered at natural color and high strength. Each batch is unique and varies slightly in style and intensity. As with every bottle of Tamdhu, once distilled it is matured exclusively in hand-selected sherry oak casks. Our oak is amongst the finest in the industry, with a high proportion being first-fill and teeming with flavor. Finally, patience is required to allow these fine casks to do their work, giving Tamdhu its deep color and exquisite quality.
NOSE: Fragrant red berries, walnuts and hints of pecan mix with delicate citrus, creamy vanilla and a touch of cookie dough.
PALATE: Intense richness, rounded with spice, sherry and dried fruit. Then lighter fruits come to the fore – apricot, orange and creme brulee.
FINISH: Richness matures into biscuit, malt and marmalade with a lingering fruitiness.
