About
The village of port Askaig sits on the west coast of the Isle of Islay, an island known for the warmth of both its people and its whisky. One of the most stunning areas in all of Scotland, for centuries it has been the gateway to Islay with a road leading to the centre of the island and the seat of the Lord of the Isles at Finlaggan. Port Askaig’s range of Islay Single Malts achieves the perfect balance of sweet fruity flavours and smoky, peaty character. Through the warmth and flavour of the whisky, and the style of the presentation, Port Askaig embodies the unique spirit of Islay and its people. As each new batch of Port Askaig whisky is released, you are introduced to yet another aspect of this magical island.
Matured in five refill sherry butts, Port Askaig 45 Year Single Malt Scotch Whisky is an unpeated single malt, distilled on Hogmanay in 1968 at Islay’s northernmost distillery. We have bottled it at cask strength after the angels took their generous share. Distillation on Islay in the 1960s has become famed for producing magnificent spirit full of tropical fruit flavors, making whiskies like this an incredibly rare treat.
