Lagavulin distillery was founded in 1816 and is located in the village of Lagavulin on the island of Isla. Lagavulin is known for producing very heavily peated single malts, thanks to using heavily peated barley and short stills with wide necks. It is currently owned by Diageo and is a part of their Classic Malts brands.
Lagavulin 8 Year is a 200 anniversary edition and a revival of this “exceptionally fine” whisky, it was matured in refill American and European casks, and bottled at 48% alc/vol.
NOSE: Sweet fruit, smoke, tar. Classic Lagavulin.
PALATE: Big, smoke, rich, fresh, earthy, more smoke, drying.
FINISH: Long, clean, smoky.
