About
Koch Arroqueno Mezcal Joven was created by master distiller Adrián Bautista in Rio de Ejutla, Oaxaca. Koch el Mezcal produces traditional, handcrafted mezcals that are perfected by master distillers who have generations of knowledge in agave plant processing.
Koch Mezcal prides itself on 100% Oaxacan ownership and bringing a streamlined efficiency to the 200 year-old production methods of mezcal. They use traditional stone lined pits to cook the agave hearts, fermented, and then given a double distillation process. It is aged in oak for some years before bottling.
Koch El Mezcal is an unthinkably rare spirit produced exclusively from a range of wild agaves. The individual, intensely idiosyncratic, agave grow under harsh and generally prohibitive conditions come together to form a poised, charming, and tenaciously subtle mezcal. Distinguished notes of flora, mineral salts, and delicate spices tease your senses. On the palate, agave nectar rolls off the tongue while a pillow of smoke seems to linger endlessly on the finish.
Koch Arroqueno Mezcal Joven is made with 100% wild agave Arroqueno. The agave Arroqueno is significant because of it’s large size. Typically, this agave can take up to 30 years to mature, before it is pit roasted in a traditional fashion. Given the length of time needed to grow this elegant agave, sustainability of Arroqueno has become a big issue. The Koch Arroqueno is made by Adrian Bautista in Rio de Ejutla, Oaxaca. This mezcal has high fruity notes with hints of earth and herbs, clay and smoke.
