About
Our home is the Isle of Jura, a remote island off the west coast of Scotland. This ancient landscape of wild mountains, peaceful lochs, and raging seas is home to just 200 people. As the one and only distillery on the island, the craft of whisky making is at the heart of Jura’s small community. Established in 1810 (then known as the “Small Isles Distillery”) Jura has been crafting island matured whisky for two centuries. With peat being the main source of fuel on the island, the original distillery produced a smoky style of whisky. With the release of Jura 10 we are returning to this original style, first produced 207 years ago.
A remarkable ingenuity defines the people of Jura; an ability to reimagine and reinvent that has allowed our Distillery and its working community to thrive. Such vision has brought to life Jura Seven Wood Single Malt Scotch Whisky, a complex single malt – a fitting tribute to our Master Blender’s skill – having been shaped by seven separate Oak woods: first-fill ex-bourbon American White Oak, Vosges, Bertranges, Jupilles, Allier, Tronçais & Limousin barrels.
