About
The Gourry de Chadeville family has produced exclusively estate grown, Grande Fine Champagne Premier Cru de Cognac since 1619. This prestigious area in the Segonzac, “Grande Fine Champagne”, represents a thirtieth of the whole Cognac region.
They distill today the same way they did in 1600s, in two steps. The first distillation is called “brouillis”. The second distillation re-distills brouillis in a procedure called “La bonne chauffe”. or “The good brew”. The first vapors, “the heads”, and the last “the tails”, are stored separately and are reintroduced in another distillation. Each cycle lasts 24 hours, and demands attention, supervision and skill.
Gourry de Chadeville 1er Cru St. Emilion Cask Grande Fine Champagne Cognac is distilled at 72% alc/vol., and proofed down to 60% alc/vol right away. It is aged for 8 years, and bottled at cask strength of 55% alc/vol. with no additives. It combines two casks: the first begins with 4 years in St. Emilion Grand Cru Classe A, and finishes for 4 years in ex-Cognac casks. The second ages in reverse: 4 years in ex-Cognac, and 4 years in St. Emilion Grnd Cru Classe A.
Gourry de Chadeville 1er Cru St. Emilion Cask Grande Fine Champagne Cognac is distilled from 100% Ugni Blanc, unfiltered, no additives, natural color.
