The Castellani Family produce classic wines in Tuscany since more than 150 years. Famiglia Castellani Poggio al Casone La Cattura is one of the few Italian reds we’ve featured whose primary varietal is Teroldego. Normally found in Trentino (Northern Italy) the varietal is finding a new home among the sunny foothills and expanse of vineyards in Tuscany. What we love about Teroldego is the beautiful aromatics, complexity and structure with lower alcohol content (12.5%). It’s an expression of organic viticulture. Medium-bodied, fresh, velvety with well-integrated tannins, and 12 months in French oak. We really enjoyed this bottle with chicken parmigiana. In a picture-perfect vintage, this Italian red is a standout for the price!
