About
Jean-Pierre Guedon is the owner and winemaker of Domaine Les Hautes Noelles, which was first founded in 1930. His organically farmed vineyards are centered in the Cotes de Grandlieu sub-zone of Muscadet, sitting near the mouth of the Loire as it joins the Atlantic. There is a strong sense of the sea throughout his wines, with the cooling breezes of the wild Atlantic keeping the Hautes Noelles Muscadet Les Parcelles fresh and mineral; delivering oyster shell-purity from these sandy/clay soils. Alongside the Muscadet are a lineup of fruit driven and vibrant red wines that have garnered wide praise for their terroir focus at incredibly fair prices.
The appellation “Côtes de Grandlieu” was created by a decree on December 29th, 1994. This is a regional appellation like “Sèvre et Maine” and “Coteaux de la Loire”. It spreads over 19 villages, with about 300 hectares of vines. On our estate, this selection covers about seven hectares with an annual production of 50 000 bottles. Most of our vines producing this wine are farmed in short cane pruning (2×3 buds), ploughed and trellised. This technique allows us to control the yield to approximately 50 hectolitres per hectare.
Domaine Les Hautes Noelles Les Parcelles Cotes de Grandlieu Sur Lie Muscadet is made with 100% Melon de Bourgogne. It has a floral nose with scents of white peach, grapefruit and green apple moving on to mineral notes, and lemony acidity. Slightly pearling on the mouth, due to the carbonic gas of fermentation; cool and refreshing attack letting place to a solid structure and notes of fruit and almond on the finish.
