About
Bunnahabhain distillery was founded in 1881, and is located on the north shore of Islay. The name Bunnahabhain can be translated from Gaelic as “the river mouth”. Islay whiskys are well known for their peaty, smoky character, but Bunnahabhain malts are usually less peaty and very well balanced.
Bunnahabhain 18 is a truly magnificent, more delicate Islay whisky. It is more reminiscent of Highland malt, but with more brine and less floral notes. It is very well balanced, and has a traditional, old-fashioned feel to it. It is un chill-filtered, no caramel added, bottled at 46.3% alc/vol (3 check marks!).
