Boodles London Dry Gin is an old-school London Dry style gin recently re-introduced to the States, look for a classic juniper-pine aroma and a grapefruit-like flavor finishing with spicy hints of coriander, rosemary and black pepper. Despite that perceived flash of grapefruit, no citrus is used in the ingredients, a nod by the original creators that “any proper gin drink always included the addition of a slice of lemon or lime, and to include it in the gin’s recipe would be redundant.

Created in 1845 and named after the Boodles Club in St. James, London, Boodles was the favorite gin of one of the club’s most famous members, Winston Churchill. It is a juniper and coriander-based gin, distinct for having a more understated juniper flavor and unique profile.
Every batch of Boodles Gin is made with labou and patience. It begins as a clean spirit distilled from British wheat and is then infused with a number of traditional herbs and spices including nutmeg, sage, and rosemary. These ingredients add a mellow but herbal quality to Boodles, which balances out the essential piney notes from juniper.
Boodles Gin contains no citrus botanicals – a practical decision made by distillers who expected a gin cocktail to include a slice of lemon or lime. Boodles Gin is as balanced and refined as a silver service tray, suitable for any proper drink including a Boodles & Tonic, Churchill Martini, Tom Collins, or further mixology for those so inclined.

Tasting Notes
NOSE: Juniper, coriander (adding a citrusy note) backed up by some leafy herbal tones.
PALATE: Sweet to start with cassia, cinnamon and caraway notes, this moves towards the rich herbal notes of the rosemary and sage.
FINISH: Dry piney juniper and coriander.
