About
Our distillery enjoys a rich history dating back to 1817. Bladnoch Distillery was founded and built on the River Bladnoch by brothers John and Thomas McClelland. Owned by the McClelland family for 121 years, Bladnoch cemented its roots and contributed a strong history in the south of Scotland. We are one of six Lowland distilleries, however Bladnoch is the southernmost Whisky distillery in Scotland, and is one of the oldest Scotch whisky producers paying homage to rare Lowland whisky. Our first liquid ran through the stills seven years before Scotch whisky production was legalized in the country in 1823. For a distillery celebrating 200 years, the Bladnoch story is only just beginning.
Our award winning Master Distiller Ian MacMillan hand selects every cask to bring together this luscious Bladnoch Samsara Single Malt Scotch Whisky – full bodied and fragrant with a rich core and lingering tail. This unique malt is created by blending Bladnoch Single Malts matured in first fill ex Bourbon casks and first fill ex Californian Red Wine casks – both American Oak – to create a rich and smooth winey palate. Crafted using only the purest ingredients – pristine water from the River Bladnoch and locally grown barley – Samsara is non-chill filtered, naturally colored, and a composition of well-aged Bladnoch malts.
