About
Balblair distillery is located in Edderton, Ross-shire, Scotland, in the Highland region of Scotland. It was established in 1790, and is one of the oldest operating distilleries in Scotland. It is currently owned by Inver House Distillers. Balblair is one of the two distilleries that releases vintages of their single malt, rather than putting age statements on the bottle (the second distillery is Glenrothes). All of the expressions are released in very small quantities, with a lot of care and attention to detail, which makes Balblair one of the best single malts on the market.
Balblair 1990 2nd Release is a replacement for the 1989 vintage, it was distilled in 1990, matured in ex bourbon casks and ex Olorosso sherry butts, and bottled in 2013 at 46% alc/vol. without chill filtration, making it a 23 year old. Delicious whisky!

Tasting Notes
NOSE: Rich toffee, milk chocolate, vanilla, a touch of spice.
PALATE: Full bodied, citrus fruits, raisins, honey, black pepper.
FINISH: Long, drying with bitter chocolate, and soft spice. Final note: Balblair is one of our favorite whyskys and this vintage is just superb, and also a rare find considering the caliber of whisky for the price!
