About
Created by Master Distiller Lincoln Henderson, Angel’s Envy is worth coveting. Aged up to 6 years in charred white oak barrels and finished in ruby port wine casks, Angel’s Envy is an artisan’s masterpiece unlike any other bourbon. Even after being named a “Living Legend” by Wine and Spirits Magazine, Lincoln wasn’t content to rest on his laurels. He was always a malcontent. But then, you don’t spend 40 years defining the spirits industry and earn an inaugural spot in the Bourbon Hall of Fame without a few unconventional ideas. Angel’s Envy was his last, great endeavor. Angel’s Envy is what happens when 200 years of tradition meet an independent master craftsman’s instinct to improve. It’s a total return to craft first, hand-blended batches of 8 to 12 barrels at a time. Our bourbon starts with the finest local ingredients distilled in micro-batches and aged in American oak. We personally taste every barrel throughout each step to ensure that the spirit meets Lincoln’s malcontent legacy. This would be enough for any other premium bourbon, but Lincoln had other ideas for his creation. That’s why we finish every batch in ruby port wine casks. There’s no set time for the process. It’s only Angel’s Envy when we say it is. The ruby port wine finish adds subtle nuance without ruining the integrity of the bourbon. The end result is a rich, exceptionally smooth and rare bourbon. Sin aside, we work every day to inspire envy, even if it takes a little longer.
Angel’s Envy Cask Strength 2020 Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey was ranked the “Best Spirit in the World” by F. Paul Pacult’s Spirit Journal in 2013 and given “Five Stars, Highest Recommendation.” in 2015. Angel’s Envy Cask Strength is unlike any bourbon you’ve ever tried. We’re releasing a very limited number of bottles of our award-winning Cask Strength this year, so don’t miss your chance to pick up a bottle or two of this rare and delicious spirit. Each year’s release is distinctly unique and is pulled from the most remarkable barrels in our rickhouse.
We judge only a handful of barrels exceptional enough for our lengthy finishing process. The result? Even at 120.4 proof, every sip is worth savoring. A remarkably complex spirit, we suggest you enjoy it neat or with just a splash of water to release the flavor nuances, and perhaps with a few friends who appreciate outstanding whiskey. Angel’s Envy Cask Strength was worth waiting for, now it’s worth sharing.
Tasting Notes
NOSE: Apricot, plum, baking spices, brown sugar, leather, oak and vanilla. Bing Cherries play heavily and carry through to the taste.
PALATE: Ripe cherry, salted chocolate, orange peel and faint cedar.
FINISH: The tannic finish is complemented by the citrus fruit qualities. Neither too bitter nor too dry, it lingers pleasantly on the back of your tongue.
